Grand Theft Auto VI – Vice City in 2015?

While Grand Theft Auto V is still not out yet for PC, Xbox One or Playstation 4, the rumors are spreading about a new Grand Theft Auto which will have a 2015 or a 2016 release.

As Rockstar Games officially stated that they are still working on the Grand Theft Auto V for PC and the new gen consoles. At this time we can really ask ourselves what we are expecting from the series. Sure GTA 5 is a great game and it has a wide range of possibilities and activities around the 40 hours of main mission playtime, but Rockstar Games is working on the game to make it even better, sharper, flashier and to provide a great new generation experience on both of the consoles and on the PC.
Rockstar has teamed up with AMD and their engineers to make the game look fantastic, they have showed that they are making a whole new lightning system and adding textures and various meshes to it. As we could see from the released trailer: there is more life on the streets, on the motorways and in the wilderness too, but how further could they bring the whole experience? Are they adding heists to the multiplayer mode? Are they working on new multiplayer or single player missions? Are they adding more cars and vehicles? Will we able to play with our fellow Xbox 360 friends on the Xbox One and the Playstation 3 players on the Playstation 4? These questions still remain unanswered.

The development of Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto IV was released in the fourth quarter of 2008, while the expansion for that game released in April 2009, called Liberty City Stories. The last patch for the game was released on 31th May, 2010.
Red Dead Redemption was also released in May, 2010 and the last major game from the studio, before Grand Theft Auto V was L.A. Noire which came 1 year later than Red Dead, in 2011.
In September, 2009 Take-Two’s CEO said after he was asked about Grand Theft Auto V, that: “We’re not going to announce it”. In 2010 Rockstar Games has posted a job offering, that they are searching for animators, programmers and other coworkers for a “professional experience, developing a third-person action game”. The development was well under way in 2011 and in 2012 various gaming news sources stared spreading information about a new Grand Theft Auto.
On 3rd October, 2012 the first trailer came out featuring Michael and it was clearly a blowout: every newspaper, TV and radio station have tuned in and started spreading the story not speaking about you guys on the internet! The release date of the game was pushed back from the original “spring 2013″ to last year’s fall.

What about older Grand Theft Auto games?

If we speak about GTA 3 or GTA: Vice City we see that Grand Theft Auto III came out in 2001 and Vice City closely followed it with its 2002 release. These two games are the two most similar ones, the cars, many elements of the environments and the graphics are mostly the same. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was released in 2004 and the game was a leap forward in storytelling and also in the environment compared to the previous ones.
San Andreas made it quite clear to everyone that Grand Theft Auto is here to stay as a king of the open-world action genre.

How could be Grand Theft Auto VI released in 2015?!

As we have seen from above, in those times Rockstar Games had a pretty tight schedule, at that time making a great video game wasn’t as complicated as nowadays, but at the moment they have all the experience, a bigger team and the skillsets, so they are quite able to make that happen. They have released major hits throughout the previous years with massive amounts of work in them, they had to build every system from nearly the ground up.
If we think about the graphical improvements in Vice City there were no major ones. I believe that Rockstar Games hasn’t released GTA 5 yet, because they want to make it a real new generation experience.

Grand Theft Auto V was built with a great knowledge about how they could make the development faster and more energy-efficient. If you have saw the leaked source code behind the multiplayer missions, then you know that a 20 minutes long mission is about 3-4 lines in the code (starting GPS point, small description, mission name, mission type, checkpoint, checkpoint, ending GPS point and reward). If they can improve greatly the graphics and make it more lifelike (more cars on the motorway) for new gen they have a great opportunity to make a new Grand Theft Auto VI within a year or two.

Where would Grand Theft Auto VI take place?

It could be a tough question at first, but if we narrow down and remember what they have already used recently.
Los Santos in San Andreas would be wrong answer, because of GTA V. We know that Liberty City would be a non-favorite for many of us, because everybody remembers GTA IV.
What about GTA: San Andreas’s San Fierro or maybe Vice City?

Grand Theft Auto Vi, like Vice City!

I believe they would go with Vice City. It would be more interesting for the fans to see what they are capable of making, because GTA: Vice City came out in 2002, so 12 years ago.
Vice City has also a lot of great opportunities, like the Ocean and the feel of the city, what on they could capitalize easily. It has a small map, so there is no need to work on it for too long and they would be able to put into that game everything from Grand Theft Auto 5, they just need to animate a new story, add new cars to the collection and maybe some new gameplay elements too. It would be a great question: Which decade will they choose? (’70s, ’80s, ’90s or present?) They wouldn’t need to work hard on the game engine or on the graphics, so they would a great advantage with the new improvements.
