Gamescom 2014 - Rise Of The Tomb Raider Exclusive To Xbox

Microsoft announced during its Gamescom 2014 press conference today that the recently unveiled Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusively to the Xbox platforms.

Phil Harrison announced the partnership with Crystal Dynamics, which will see the follow-up to the award-winning 2013 original Tomb Raider reboot arrive exclusively to Xbox in holiday 2015.

It’s worth noting that no mention was made of the exact Xbox platforms, so it looks like Rise of the Tomb Raider will be arriving on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 when it arrives next year.

"Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011," writes Crystal Dynamics' Darrell Gallagher. "We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft."

It’s hugely disappointing news for both PC and PlayStation gamers, who look to be missing out on Square Enix’s next-gen title, but as always it’s worth remembering that both Dead Rising 3 and Ryse: Son of Rome, two Xbox One exclusives, are finding their way to PC later this year.
